This paper gives details about a study into the evaluation of tourism teaching in higher education. Although there has been a rapid growth in research into tourism education, little has focused on teaching or its evaluation. The work draws on literature from the field of education more generally to arrive at a set of dimensions. Based on these it explains a study conducted in the United Kingdom. Findings suggest that the important dimensions relate to the extent to which teaching is linked both to the vocational aspects as well as to deeper sets of experiences.
